Prophets Conference Main tour February 20 - March 8, 2007

This unique mystical journey followed the sequence of the chakras. We met in New Delhi for our orientation. Then the journey began with the first chakra in Varanasi (tribal traditions and rituals); the second chakra (relationships) in Khajuraho where the kama sutra temples celebrate sex and spirituality; the third and fourth chakra at the Taj Mahal in Agra (heart); followed by the fifth and sixth chakra in Mathura and Vrindavan, the birthplace of Krishna, and Jaipur; and the seventh chakra (intuition and our connection to our spiritual nature) in the Ajanta-Ellora Caves in Aurangabad.

During this journey, we participated in the sacred vedic “arti”, the rites of fire performed by the banks of the Ganges in Rishikesh. It was resided over by the Swami of the ashram we were staying at. We celebrated the festival of colour, “Holi”, where we smeared each other with coloured powder and splashed each other with coloured water. It was followed by the Elephant Festival in Jaipur. In Khajuraho, we attended the annual Dance Festival where the top classical dancers from all over India gather with the Kama Sutra temples to perform the special dances of India. As the sun set, a sacred ritual was performed specially for us at the temple of the 64 Yoginis or Goddesses. We witnessed naked ascetic men prostrating themselves at the feet of the head of the Jain sect. We ended the main tour with an extension to Amritsar and Dharamsala where the Dalai Lama was giving his annual teachings. We happened to see the Tibetans demonstrating for a Free Tibet on one of those days.
